Name: Charles Elliot
Age: 29
Occupation: Operational Manager of Mills for a nationwide paper packaging company.
Description/Personality:
Charlie's average looks go along nicely with his average height (5'10" if he stretches) and build. He enjoys running and does so as often as possible, but should probably lay off the pizza and cookies if he wants to rid himself of the extra layer of dough. He is fun loving and easy going, for the most part a pretty nice guy, but he can be a real asshole if he's in the mood.
Background:
Charles Elliot grew up in a small town of about 25,000 people. He was the youngest of four, a brother and two sisters. His parents were loving, patient, but could be overbearing and because of this (to hear him tell it) once he got a small taste of freedom, he felt the need to 'act out' and test the boundaries of life. He got into a bit of trouble, but nothing more than the average teenager does at that age. He did have a knack for wrecking his car, much to his parents horror, but he was content to drive the dented, half-totaled beast as it was. He let his hair grow and began to experiment all life had to offer. He would have you believe that he's quite proud of the fact that only once in his life has he been taken 'downtown'.
In the 10th grade he started dating his best friend, Karyn, and immediately knew they would spend the rest of their lives together. His friends became her friends, and her friends... pleasantly disappeared. He graduated highschool middle of his class, at best, and had no real notion of what to do with his life. He and Karyn went to the same college but Charlie decided that 'college life' was much more entertaining than college itself and dropped out.
After taking some 'down-time' he went to find work at the local paper-mill. He put in his time and was a damn hard worker. He caught the attention of the man in charge and was quickly moved up in the operation. He continued to impress and before he knew it he was running the entire floor. After learning every corner of the trade, he fine tuned the entire thing and took a plan to corporate office, in Old Johnstown, on how to make the mills run most efficiently. Thoroughly impressed, they offered him the opportunity to put his plan in effect for all their mills. Nationwide! Without second thought, he accepted. In that time Karyn had just graduated with a masters degree in nursing, and was able to find an ER job at Old Johnstown Medical.
They were married the next year and have a house just outside of town. Two or so years later they find out they're pregnant and are expecting a little girl in just under three months.
Recent History:
Business brought Charlie to New Kingston, and he flew in just before the first attacks were reported. Nothing was mentioned on the plane, no reports on the TV in the airport. Business as usual. He takes a cab to the hotel he's reserved, and has a couple drinks at the bar. After the third drink, and hearing all about the barkeeps, two girlfriends, three kids, he decides to call it a night and goes to his room. He got into town a day early just so he could spend a day in the city. It was still three months until the baby and he would only be gone for three or four days so he wanted to enjoy it.
The next morning he woke up, had a cup of coffee, and gets dressed in jeans and sneakers. He decides to take a short walk to a museum and spends a few hours there. When he leaves he hears a blood curdling scream from at least a block away. Shortly after that he hears sirens, but doesnt think too much of it. He does a little shopping and buys a backpack he thinks would be good to take hiking sometime. On another street he hears gunshots from only a few short blocks away. The shots are followed by more screams, and Charlie remembers why he would never want to live here. He starts back towards his hotel and is soon back safely in his room. He watches a few minutes of TV and sees nothing reported about the events of the day, but doesn't think much about it and decides to take a nap. After waking up and taking a shower he goes back out to have some drinks. He finds a suitable corner bar and spends his night shooting pool and throwing darts. He starts to walk to his hotel with a slight stumble in his step.
On his way he sees what he first thinks is a couple sharing an embrace, but as he crosses the street he sees a pool of blood around their feet. With a quick curse, he runs like hell back across the street and grabs for his phone. Another curse follows at the realization he's left his phone in his room. Turning the corner to his hotel, he stops dead as he hears repeated gunfire in the distance. There seems to be less traffic than usual, though it is a little past midnight. He bursts into the lobby and tells the young man working the front desk he's just witnessed a possible murder and asks him to call the police. The clerk is sorry to inform him that the lines have been busy for the better part of an hour, but he would keep trying. After getting up to his room he turns the TV on and sees a report of an attack on the east side of the city that had apparently led to a small scale riot. Reports were still conflicting but should be confirmed shortly. He grabs his phone and his fortune continues as it is utterly without charge.
Trying the room phone, he again fails to get an outside line.
After putting his phone on the charger he tells himself that he will call again shortly, but before he can do that he falls asleep.
His dreams are bad enough, but he wakes up in the middle of a hellish nightmare. The first thing he hears is a siren wailing outside his windows and looks out to see an ambulence crashed into a traffic post. Looking further down the street he sees a group of people in business suits running frantically down the street being followed by another slower group. From his floor he can see smoke from a large fire probably 5 blocks away and his heart starts pounding in his chest. Wondering if the riot that was reported had somehow gotten out of control, he grabs the phone but the lines are still down. The same holds true for his cell. He turns on the TV and is shocked to see breaking news of attacks being reported from multiple locations in the city. The details were few, but each case was similar. The alleged riots had spread and were continuing to spread at an alarming rate.
Without hesitation, he quickly packs up his things. He decides to leave his suitcase; deciding the backpack was the smarter choice in this time of crisis, and a pair of dress shoes and suit are a small price to pay given the circumstance. Taking the stairs since the elevator wasnt working, he hears screams on the third floor as he passes it. Shocked the riots have reached his own hotel, Charlie all but leaps the remaining flights and runs through the vacant lobby. When he hits the street the first thing he sees is a young girl being devoured by a man in a three piece suit. The man never looks up, but Charlie can see the blood dripping off his chin. He starts running as fast as he can away from the horror, and turning a corner sees the road is all but flooded with bloodsoaked, lumbering... zombies!
