My skills will show the full Armor Check Penalty for using a shield, but I am curious about something. (And always have been about this...) What if the shield is strapped to a characters back? You could make an argument for both sides. Having a shield strapped to your back would still make it tougher to hide, jump, move silently... ... but wouldn't a backpack as well? And there's no Backpack Check Penalty. I'm not asking for some sort of ruling here (most of my skills will be weak regardless)... just curious. The only ACP D&D uses for a backpack is the penalty you get if you're encumbered. So...unless the shield on your back weighs a ton, it's magically not there Your arms move more than your body, but yes, it does have a measure of "handwavium" to it. As far as my elf's age, I went off of Warhammer Fantasy's elf ages more than D&D's, since I know that was a majority of Shiv's inspiration for these dark elves. Though I will agree, playing a typical Faerun elf that's been around for 120 years (the equivalent to an 18yo human) does require a certain amount of finesse. Being alive during the Time of Troubles and when Mystra took over the Weave alone brings a /huge/ bundle of RP knowledge to the table lol
