What would be the interest level for playing a lower level Dark Heresy game? Primarily focused on Ordo Xenos on a smaller scale. Mostly one planet, maybe cover its system at the largest.

I've got a sci-fi itch and i'm bouncing between either running an M&M sci-fi bug hunt set in the year 3041 and within our solar system...or a smaller Dark Heresy game since my mind keeps jumping to 40k whenever i try to think up stuff lol

I've got the Dark Heresy and M&M books in PDF form, so that wouldn't be an issue.

Well...shit. This always happens and I hate it. Okay...I'm absolutely dying for some 40k now that I'm reading this 40k novel (Faith & Fire). The depth of the 40k universe never stops to amaze me and ironically, before I started reading the book...I had rolled up a Sister Soraritos.

DMing and playing is never quite as fun as just playing. So...I propose an idea. Hawk's played the system before, Weasel (should he decide to jump in) has played the tabletop game, I've of course played almost everything, and Shiv's done everything but the PnP systems.

The idea is as follows: I DM a Dark Heresy game; small, low level (probably 1st) bug hunt. Gives everyone a chance to get used to the mechanics/setting. Then...after the small game concludes (small as in not like my D&D game), I pass the torch to Shiv (the person here with basically the best lore knowledge and someone that's been toying with starting a game of some sort) and join the game with my Battle Sister at whatever level everyone else ended at. Battle Sisters really wouldn't be involved in a xeno situation really, not unless it was a psyker creature or the like.

I'd still have to learn the rules, but I could manage a small one-off thingy, sure. If that inspires me to take it all further so be it, I'll DM some more. But be aware that I actually don't know much of the background since I've only "kept an eye" on the hobby over these years. Not really been an active player.

But yeah. As long as no one springs something like "But that can't happen since the books of faggotry clearly states that space marine gene-seed -if ingested by a Kroot- turns into Gummiberri Juice" or similar fluff on me I'll be happy to do it. If the DM doesn't know of the fluff, it does not exist

Well, like I said, during the small bug-hunt I'd run...you'd have time to get used to the mechanics. At least from a player's perspective. I know Hawk's got the books...so I'm guessing I'd need to send them to you, Shiv?

No worries there Shiv [Concerning the fluff bit] no one here is willing to go that far out on a limb to do something that silly. I'm more than willing to play an eccentric character, but i would never stretch the lore that bad. Granted, i argued with a previous DM about weapon attachment upgrades, but that was a seaparate issue. Speaking of which, in your opinion, is it illegal to install a melee attachment on a gun and then expect to be able to upgrade the attachment with chain, mono, shock, or power properties? it doesnt seem that far fetched to me...

Upgrade the attachment? Yes. To install a chainsword, etc from the beginning? Sure. Of course you can't have a power chainsword or some other hideous combination, but attaching a shortened chainsword to the end of a lasgun isn't that hard. Some Space Marine chaplians have similar weapons, I believe. I'd just have to adjust the price of the melee attachment, since that's a bit beyond what they were planning originally.
