The zombies continue their onslaught on the door, the noise almost impossible to hear or think over. Through the groaning and the smashing, however, the survivors manage to think.
With Sarah's help, Cassandra manages to move the cabinet, albeit slowly, over the assaulted door, providing a small extra protection against the horde outside.
Smashing through the door isn't hard - the wood is thin and frail, the door old - seemingly older than it should be. The wood is chipped in places, the paint scratched and spotted - the handle looks like it belongs more in an antique shop or museum - whatever museum takes doorknobs - than in a modern house. Through the new hole in the broken and old wood, the adjacent room in the house is visible.
It is completely empty. No furniture, the walls have been stripped down to the plaster, the carpet is gone, leaving a hard, bare stone floor underneath. There are no windows, and only one door, equally as old as the now smashed one, directly opposite. If one were to inspect the room closely, you would find it to be a perfect square. It is completely empty, save for an old grandfather clock in the centre of the room, about the height of a man. The hands don't move - both pointing towards 12. It doesn't tick, but the pendulum is swinging. Instead, in the room, there is a low, quiet noise - like the beating of a heart.
