The night passes without incident, the heavy snows around you muffling the sounds of the forest, embedding the camp is stillness. The following morning the party wakes refreshed and relaxed to the first shafts of light streaming down through the leafless branches and the pines above. The snow glitters enticingly as you step out of your tents and sleeping bags, a joyous promise of travel lingering in the air. The wind has picked up slightly overnight and driven the clouds in front of it, giving clear skies and a crisp early morning air that leaves your breath steaming. The night has been chilly, and a small fire is started at breakfast. Under Itravs insistence the breakfast is eaten quickly, the salmaradim reiterating last nights sentiments on not wasting time due to the threat of new snows, and the party soon sets out towards the clearing. ------ You soon arrive and the scouts of last night find that the clearing looks much different, and certainly less threatening, in the light of day. You are all standing at the edge a large amrophous clearing, at least three hundred feet across. The ground is riddled with small mounds of snow, broken stumps, or half-covered tufts of grass. The place is clearly a mire -or similar- during summer, though with the current cold it seems to have frozen solid. Near the centre of the area stands several large standing stones, clearly visible in the light of day. There are four of them, rising like fingers out of the ground, standing solemn guard around a central jumble of rocks. Small and large stones have been stacked on top of each other, creating a small mound, a simple carin. A small trail of footsteps, most certainly dwarven and elven, run halfway up towards the construct before suddenly turning and heading back out the clearing. "This doesn't look so bad", Glorgar states merily. Itrav and Bnor:Both of you get realize that regardless if the cairn has been built at the same time as the standing stones or not, it would serve as a good abode for many kinds of creatures. Angry kinds. Rashid:The clearing feels cold, it's as if Amons gaze was weaker here. The skies are completely clear, but you still feel as if the sun is hiding its face from the world. ((Detail in your frist post if you made any special prepareations or how you spent you morning, as well as any actions of course))
